Ten individuals convicted of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A circulating false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens brushed aside any factual proof contradicting her allegations in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his high school.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
